Building Programs

First off, check out a quick slide show of what we've built at Hostos.

I began my teaching career at Parsons the New School for Design while working toward my MFA in Design & Technology. Under the tutelage of brilliant professors and mentors such as Tina Aufiero, Morry Galonoy, Dave Kanter, Anezka Sebek, and Sven Travis I began developing a feel for curriculum development.

The syllabi that I developed for Parsons primarily involved updating existing courses until I had the opportunity to introduce Usability Studies to the Thesis process.  The experience of building a course from the ground up which related directly to integral elements in existing curricula was extraordinary…and life changing.

When CUNY came calling, it was Morry who suggested the Office of Academic Affairs at Hostos consider me as a candidate for developing a new program in graphic design.  In the spring of 2007, I created Hostos’ AAS program curricula for Digital Design & Animation, and the following year developed a Digital Music program.  The Game Design Program was finished the in 2011, and implemented at the start of 2012.

The Media programs are a thriving part of the Hostos community, allowing gifted young artists to hone skillsets with which they can pursue valuable and rewarding careers while never turning their backs on their creative instincts.
